I have come to psychological work later in life after long successful careers in both the Australian Defence Force and Commonwealth Public Service. Male mental health and helping families thrive were major influencers for me to significantly change direction and move into the psychological profession.

I completed my psychology degree in 2018 and achieved general registration as a psychologist in June 2021 after completing the 4+2 pathway largely in private practice. I am an active member of the Australian Psychological Society.

The main focus of my work is conducting psychological assessments services in the areas of neurodiversity (ADHD and ASD), cognitive ability (IQ tests), and education (learning disorders). These can be done for both adults and children over the age of 6 years.

Therapy for adults is a smaller proportion of my work for people on a MHCP. David’s specific areas of interest in applying psychological principles include depression, stress, anxiety and worry, self-esteem, anger, relationship/couples, family, grief, poor concentration, work issues, and life transitions.

In therapy, I largely use a combination of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in my session work.
