Frequently Asked Questions

Our premises are located in George Turner House, 11 McKay Gardens, Turner.  The building is two-storey with a red-tiled roof, next to the former Police and Citizens Youth Centre (PCYC) site.  Canberra Psychology Clinic can be found upstairs in Suite 11, towards the rear of the building.
The closest bus stop is in Marcus Clarke St, a short distance from Barry Drive.  For motorists, there are 2-hour parking meters available in both McKay Gardens and McKay Lane (behind the building).  Please note, that the meters do not accept 50c coins. Our mailing address and phone numbers can be found here.

Appointments are available between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday [last booking at 4:00 pm]. It is advisable to arrive a few minutes early for your initial appointment to allow time to complete administrative forms.
A session usually runs between 50 and 60 minutes.  Including administration and re-booking, you will need to allow up to 75 minutes for each appointment.

Occasionally, a psychologist may choose to offer an appointment time outside of our normal office hours.
The front door to the building is locked on weekends and after 6:oopm weeknights.  If your appointment is after hours, you will need to be let in by your clinician.
If you find yourself waiting for longer than 10 minutes, please contact your psychologist directly by telephone. The office number and clinician’s mobile numbers are listed on your appointment card.

Details of our fees can be found here.

We understand that client problems do not always fit neatly into the regular one-hour time slot during business hours.
If you are experiencing a genuine crisis and feel we may be able to help, you are welcome to leave a message for your psychologist during office hours. After hours, we are generally contactable on our mobile numbers. Clinicians will try to return your call as soon as possible.
However, we are a small agency and have limited capabilities in emergency situations such as suicidal risk or admission to hospital.  In such cases, it is better to contact the Crisis Team for the Canberra area (1800 629 354).
