Ross Calear

B.App Psych. GradDip. Psych

Ross worked from 2006 to 2014 in Canberra in ACT Government agencies which work with people experiencing mild to severe psychological symptoms. His work experience includes working with victims of crime, perpetrators of crime, people with major mental illness, and in crisis support situations.

Ross is interested in working with people who are having difficulty with: anxiety, depression, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), relationship issues, workplace stress and coping, hallucinations, delusions, and Bipolar Disorder. Ross uses evidence based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Schema therapy

Ross is passionate about his work and highly respects people who are working towards positive psychological change, as he remains mindful of the tremendous commitment people make to achieve this goal. He works toward bringing energy and respectful curiosity into each session. Ross’ philosophy of practice is to work ‘with people’ and not ‘on patients’.

If you cannot find Ross in the office, you might find him at a workshop or conference somewhere. He is a self-confessed workshop nerd, and regularly attends a range of professional development events. Just ask him to tell you of the latest conference or workshop he attended (pillow and blanket not included).
